A thick & fine well forged iron with A beautiful deep black shakudo fukurin "in rope design". The black shakuro fukurin around the mimi/edge was added later during the Edo period.

This example has a beautiful color & patina,  a rich deep dark chocolate-brown, in excellent condition with no damage.
