Takada Sadahiro Tachi, ca. 1500’s NBTHK Hozon, with Koshirae
$11,500

Features:

A long, ubu Koto tachi of full length with deep curvature, reminiscent of swords from late Heian to early Kamakura period. This is a work by the Takdada swordsmith Sadahiro, who made the sword during the mid Muromachi period, aiming it as an utushi-mono of an earlier Kamakura work from the famous Bungo swordsmith Yukihira. Sadahiro made this sword with earnest effort, copying detail with discernment, such as a designed yaki-otoshi.

The blade features the classic sugata and nagasa of a Koto tachi, replete with deep koshizori curvature, smaller ko-kissaki, and a great length over 30 inches. The nakago is ubu and signed Sadahiro Saku. The jigane is a refined itame hada. The hamon begins with a yaki-otoshi that transitions to a sugu-notare-ba, that is interspersed with ko-ashi. The hamon features a thicker nioi guchi and other subtle activities and finishes in a maru boshi.

Along with high quality and original koshirae. Both the blade and koshirae have NBTHK papers.
