A mint condition Type 19 cavalry saber that was an ‘Onshi’, a gift from the emperor awarded for merit or presented to honored individuals. The blade shows a kogarasu maru shape. The mounts include a gold bullion knot.

This sword was once in the collection of John Plimpton and published in his book Swords of the Emperor, 1873-1945 (pg. 494-495). The sword comes with a rare presentation box with hakogaki attribution to the awarded individual from the cavalry school and dated Showa 6 (1931).
