During the Sengoku period, the demand for Japanese swords rapidly increased. As fighting continued, the Seki swordsmiths of Mino flourished as one of Japan's largest sword production centers, rivaling the Osafune school in Bizen. Their reputation was emblazoned with the performance and superior sharpness of the works by legendary swordsmiths Kanemoto and Kanesada. The latter was the progenitor of the Hachiya school, of which Kanezumi was a member and developed this full length tachi with a heavy leaning toward the style of Kanesada.

The blade is long, ubu unshortened, with a deep and refined sori, an elegant sugata, and elongated kissaki. The nakago is ubu and signed Kanezumi Saku. The jigane is bright itame nagare. There is a whitish shirake utsuri that floats through the ji. The hamon is a dazzling large pattern gunome midare with prevalent togari formations. The hamon finishes in a thick jizo boshi that is near ichimai on one side. Hataraki activities abound with sunagashi streaming through the hamon and tobiyaki formations interspersed above it.
